Jr. Staff Accountant

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is searching for a Jr. Staff Accountant  to join the team. This position focuses on the processing of accounts payable and staff accountant functions through the utilization of accounting software. Must have excellent interpersonal skills in order to investigate and resolve AP & Accounting issues as they arise. Compiles, classifies, records, verifies, and maintains data and payments to accounts payable. Compiles, classifies, records, verifies, and maintains data in the general ledger. Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Compiles and prepares entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions
• Assist the Accountant with journal entries and entry into the Accounting software
• Perform labor transaction adjustments or other adjustments in the Accounting software
• Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits
• Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures
• Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
• Devises and implements system for general accounting
• Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures
• Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and approves for payment
• Prepares and mails accounts payable checks
• Investigates problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payment for bills
• Answers accounts payable inquiries and follows up
• Analyzes vendor accounts
• Prepares analysis and summaries of accounts
• Monitors accounts payable to ensure payments are accurate and timely
• Assist in monthly and annual closings
• Must be able to do the following tasks associated with an AP function: auditing, coding, scheduling payments, preparing weekly vendor check runs, file maintenance and assisting various accounting functions
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications

Education, Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations

Bachelor’s Degree or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
