At NOBL, we are dedicated to maintaining a space that, above all else, serves its members and community.” The Role: The Operations Manager is an executive leadership position responsible for ensuring the gym operates efficiently, safely, and consistently every day. Working closely with the CEO, this role translates company vision into day-to-day execution while supporting department leaders, developing staff, and maintaining operational excellence across all areas of the business. This is a hands-on leadership role that balances strategic planning with daily operational responsibilities. The Operations Manager sets standards, develops systems, solves problems, and helps build a positive, high-performing workplace culture. Core ResponsibilitiesExecutive Leadership Partner with the CEO to develop and execute strategic initiatives aligned with the company’s mission and long-term goals. Serve as a member of the executive leadership team, contributing to organizational planning and decision-making. Establish and monitor organizational goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and operational benchmarks. Lead and mentor department managers and team leaders through regular meetings, coaching, and accountability. Make operational decisions regarding staffing, priorities, budgets, and resource allocation. Evaluate operational performance and provide regular reports and recommendations to CEO/ownership. Lead continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality, and team effectiveness. Champion company culture and model organizational values. Human Resources & Team Development Oversee employee onboarding and ensure new team members receive consistent training. Develop and maintain training systems for staff and leadership. Support employee growth through professional development opportunities. Address employee relations concerns, performance issues, and conflict resolution. Ensure company policies are communicated, understood, and consistently enforced. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and offboarding processes. Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable workplace culture. Daily Operations Oversee all daily gym operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences. Supervise staff scheduling, labor allocation, and staffing efficiency. Provide shift coverage as needed, including one regularly scheduled front desk shift each week. Develop, maintain, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with Community and Experience Manager (CEM). Ensure departments are operating consistently and collaboratively. Monitor operational metrics and adjust staffing or procedures as needed. Oversee point-of-sale (POS) system functionality and improvements in collaboration with the Community Engagement Manager. Troubleshoot operational issues and remove obstacles for staff. Facility & Safety Maintain high facility standards for cleanliness, organization, and presentation. Develop and oversee cleaning systems and accountability processes. Create preventative maintenance schedules for all facility assets. Coordinate repairs with vendors and contractors. Oversee contractor relationships and project timelines. Manage incident reporting and follow-up procedures. Ensure emergency action plans remain current and staff are properly trained. Develop long-term equipment replacement and capital improvement plans. Ensure compliance with safety standards and risk management practices. Retail & Inventory Management Oversee retail purchasing and product selection. Maintain healthy inventory levels while managing purchasing budgets. Monitor retail sales performance and recommend merchandising improvements. Manage consumable supplies for daily operations. Improve upon/maintain systems for inventory tracking and loss prevention. Events & Special Projects Lead operational planning and logistics for competitions, community events, clinics, and special programs. Coordinate staffing, setup, vendor needs, and event execution. Support new initiatives and strategic projects directed by executive leadership. Marketing & Community Partnerships Collaborate with the CEO and Community Engagement Manager to produce photography and video content that reflects the gym's brand. Assist in maintaining the gym's visual standards for marketing assets. Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community partners alongside the CEO. Support promotional initiatives through operational planning and execution. The Operations Manager is expected to: Lead with professionalism, integrity, and accountability. Make thoughtful decisions that balance employee experience, member satisfaction, and business sustainability. Communicate clearly and consistently across all levels of the organization. Build systems that improve efficiency while maintaining a welcoming community atmosphere. Develop leaders by coaching, mentoring, and empowering department managers. Anticipate operational challenges before they become problems. Foster collaboration between departments and create alignment around company goals. Be adaptable in a fast-paced, growing environment. QualificationsRequired Previous management or leadership experience. Strong organizational and project management skills. Experience supervising teams and providing performance feedback. Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Comfortable working both strategically and hands-on. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require. Preferred Experience in the climbing, fitness, hospitality, or recreation industry. Human resources or operations management experience. Experience managing budgets and operational metrics. Knowledge of point-of-sale systems and business software. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Success Measures Success in this role will be evaluated through: Safe, efficient daily operations.
