Fairhaven Cook Position

Fairhaven is looking for an experienced Cook to join our Food Services team!

Schedule: 37.5 hours per week 5:30 AM - 1:30 PM (some flexibility required) - Full time

20 hours per week (flexibility required) - Part time

Pay: $17.30 - $18.75 per hour

What You'll Do

• Prepare and serve meals following menus, recipes, and portion guidelines.
• Ensure food is ready and served on time.
• Follow therapeutic diet requirements when preparing meals.
• Check and record food and storage temperatures.
• Keep the kitchen, equipment, and work areas clean and sanitized.
• Manage food substitutions, supplements, and leftover food appropriately.
• Maintain attractive food presentation.
• Provide friendly service and help create a welcoming, home-like environment for residents.
• Protect resident privacy and follow HIPAA guidelines.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, infection control, and Fairhaven policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform kitchen duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for an entire shift, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to read instructions and communicate effectively in English.
• Comfortable working in a Christian retirement community.

Preferred Experience

• At least one year of cooking experience in a restaurant, nursing home, or institutional setting.
• Food service sanitation certification or course completion.

Work Environment

• Kitchen and dining room settings.
• Regular exposure to hot equipment, steam, and hot water.
• Typical healthcare environment serving older adults.
