The Department of Law, Division of Criminal is recruiting for a Law Office Manager in Fairbanks! This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify. What You Will Be Doing The Fairbanks Law Office Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of both the Fairbanks and Utqiagvik District Attorney's Offices. This role includes providing leadership and direction to administrative support staff, executing administrative duties such as managing financial documents, handling human resource tasks, coordinating travel arrangements, maintaining office equipment, and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external agencies to ensure efficient task completion. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in: Legal, Government, and Jurisprudence: Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, legal practices and documents, Government regulations, Executive orders, agency rules, Government organization and functions, and the democratic political process. Managing Human Resources: Plans, distributes, coordinates, and monitors work assignments of others; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner. Attention To Detail: sees and pays attention to details; recognizes the component parts of a procedure or object, and can verify correctness or error in an individual part or procedure. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Reasoning: Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions. Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues. Equivalent to those typically gained by: Training and/or education as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or in criminal justice, administrative office technology, business and marketing management, entrepreneurship, office assistance, or similar fields, and/or progressively responsible experience preparing and processing legal documents and correspondence in a legal office or law enforcement environment or performing a variety of administrative support functions for an office. Special Note Many positions require incumbents to be able to obtain and maintain a limited government Notary and to be able to pass a criminal background check to meet security requirements for using criminal record networks such as APSIN and NCIC/NLETS. If either of these requirements are present, they will be stated in the vacancy announcement. Members of the Criminal Division are held to high standards of professionalism even in our personal lives. The incumbent must maintain the strictest of confidences with information they will be exposed to and have access to. Applicants should be aware that due to the nature of the work being performed in this office, the incumbent must have the ability to tolerate some exposure to graphic pictures, coarse language, and detailed descriptions of sometimes horrific criminal acts. Required Of All Applicants Educational transcripts if using education to meet the minimum qualifications of this position. List of three (3) professional references to include daytime telephone and email address. One must be a current or former supervisor. Last two (2) performance evaluations. If unavailable, supervisory letters of recommendation can be substituted. Background Check The Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) is utilized in this position. A background check and fingerprinting will be required. The incumbent will be required to obtain APSIN access, which will be done through the office. Education If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials and must be attached to your application upon submission. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable, provided they include the URL and institution name.
