Transportation Assistant

The Transportation Assistant will serve as a primary contact for Veterans, doctors, nurses and administrative staff to arrange travel for eligible Veterans to appointments and residence when appropriate, using laws and regulations to distinguish/ensure reimbursements are legitimate or if fraudulent activity is being conducted by the beneficiary. The Transportation Assistant must also possess some knowledge of clinical services, related software, and programs as they relate to computing and office automation. Major duties include but are not limited to:

• Performing regular reconciliations of accounts and adjusting account balances.
• Responsible for determining method of payment for authorized and unauthorized claims submitted for consideration.
• Responsible for balancing, reconciling, and adjusting invoices for payment.
• Reconciling vouchers against authorizations for accuracy prior to preparing certifications for payment.
• Determining eligibility for the program.
• Responsible for forwarding all invoices certified for payment.
• Writing and/or selecting appropriate letters explaining disposition of unauthorized claims.
• Explaining regulations and guidelines to beneficiaries.
• Communicating and interacting with patients in a manner which is appropriate to cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation.
• Conducting regular and recurring contact with personnel external to the agency for the obtainment of services.
• Responding to client requests and seeks resolution of family/patient/employee complaints.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Work Schedule: Monday -Friday 7:30PM -4:30PM
