Setting: Nonprofit, community-based organization that supports children, youth, and families
Pay: $40 - 55/hour
Required: Bilingual English and Spanish

Job Summary

The Bilingual Registered Nurse provides nursing care and coordinates medical and mental health services for children and adolescents in a nonprofit, community-based organization that supports children, youth, and families throughout Brooklyn and Queens. Responsibilities include health assessments, medication management, preventive care, health education, and collaboration with families, guardians, and interdisciplinary providers to promote residents' overall health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess residents' health care needs and provide basic first aid and follow-up care.
• Coordinate medical, dental, psychiatric, and behavioral health services.
• Monitor medications, conduct monthly medication reviews, and ensure prescriptions are current.
• Maintain accurate medical records, immunization records, and required documentation.
• Provide age-appropriate health education on hygiene, nutrition, sexual health, medication safety, and chronic conditions.
• Communicate with families, guardians, physicians, psychiatrists, pharmacies, and community providers.
• Participate in treatment planning, case conferences, staff meetings, and quality improvement activities.
• Ensure resident confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and applicable regulations.
• Train and support staff in medication management and health-related procedures.
• Identify community resources and provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• One to two years of pediatric, community health, residential care, or behavioral health experience preferred.
• Experience or interest in working with children and adolescents with mental health challenges.
• Bilingual English and Spanish.
