About the DepartmentThe Rare Disease organization leads all US Commercial efforts for Novo Nordisk’s Rare Disease portfolio. The Rare Disease portfolio includes medical treatments, customer solutions, and devices across multiple Therapy Areas including Rare Bleeding Disorders, Rare Endocrine Disorders, Rare Renal Disorders, and Hemoglobinopathies (Sickle Cell Disease & Beta Thalassemia), as well as new products in the pipeline. The Rare Disease organization is responsible for leading the enterprise approach to achieving our patient care goals and financial objectives, devising and delivering transformative patient and customer experiences, addressing unmet needs across the communities we serve, and setting the industry standard for extraordinary execution. The team members collaborate and partner cross functionally with multiple functions and groups throughout the US organization, Clinical Development, Research & Early Development, other affiliates, and the Global HQ teams. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are strategic and bold thinkers, passionate and dedicated to driving change in Rare Disease, patient focused, strong collaborators, and inclusive leaders, as we embark on shaping our exciting future and improving the lives of more patients than ever before.The PositionThe Novo Nordisk Sickle Cell Community Liaison (SCCL) is a field-based, community-facing colleague who serves as the center of coordination for patient-related activities across the community and NNI. Their role is to engage with patients and caregivers, educate on disease state, NNI products (once available) and support offerings and activate patients and caregivers in their own care. This is accomplished by engaging with patients and caregivers one-on-one and at community events. The Sickle Cell Community Liaison (SC CL) is expected to possess a high level of clinical and customer knowledge, have experience with headquarter protocols and possess drive and spirit to engage the sickle cell community.RelationshipsThe Sickle Cell Community Liaison is an individual contributor and reports directly to the Sickle Cell Community Liaison Leader. As a member of the Sickle Cell team, the SC CL will serve as a liaison to provide timely insights to sales, marketing, market access, patient support, public affairs and medical regarding market trends and competitive intelligence to inform new strategies and tactics that will meet the needs of the community. Externally, the Sickle Cell Community Liaison is responsible for owning relationships with patients, caregivers, local community-based organizations and specialty pharmacy representatives.Essential FunctionsEducation and Patient EngagementThe SC CL serves as a single point of contact to build relationships with patients, caregivers, community-based patient organizations, patient advocacy groups and specialty pharmacy representativesEngage patients and caregivers in education related to disease state, NNI products (once available), wellness, lifestyle and NNI patient servicesEducate patients and caregivers so that they can take action in their own care resulting in patient driven demand for NNI products (once available)SC CLs are responsible for identifying key opportunities to educate on the importance of shared decision making and optimizing careThe SC CL will provide education through one-on-one patient and caregiver meetings, small group meetings, patient conferences, local community-based organization events and other community opportunitiesPatient AdvocacyThe SC CL will seek to understand local, state and national healthcare issues impacting the Sickle Cell Community and align to the NNI Government Affairs team to inform, support and collaborate, where appropriateProactively work to continually deepen NNIs relationship with state and local advocacy organizations and other non-traditional organization that supports people living with Sickle Cell DiseaseCoordinate policy initiatives with Government AffairsTerritory Management and PlanningThe SC CL will develop, maintain and execute a strategic business plan to effectively cover their territory and engage with patients, community and specialty pharmacy representatives to educate on NNI brands (once available) and other educational offerings for the communityRepresent NNI while planning and conducting meetings with community-based organizations with the goal of educating on disease state, NNI products (once available), wellness, lifestyle and NNI patient servicesEducate patients and caregivers so that they can take action in their own care resulting in patient driven demand for NNI products (once available)Lead planning, execution and pull-through of speaker programs for the education of patients and caregiversImportant behaviours leading to success include collaboration, communication skills and relationship buildingManage discretionary budget, field travel and utilization of resources for maximum impact on territory performanceAll activities are executed in close collaboration with leadership, legal and compliance to ensure that they are implemented to meet NNI Way and comply with relevant regulations and policiesPhysical Requirements50-75% overnight travel including working evening and weekend events. Driver must maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be in good standing by not exceeding the Novo Nordisk points threshold assigned based on review of Motor Vehicle Records. The incumbent may reside in MO, AR, LA, TN, or KS QualificationsA Bachelors degree required, scientific degree preferredMinimum of 3 years relevant experience required.
