Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.ResponsibilitiesProvide inpatient care to pediatric and young adult patients admitted on Pediatric Gastroenterology, including liver transplant patients. This is a high acuity inpatient population with complex medical needsDirect patient care and management would include performing histories and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, attend team-based rounds, processing discharges, documenting, and developing a plan of care both independently and in coordination with Pediatric Gastroenterology team members.Interact with other subspecialties and consult services to optimize patient careStabilizing and transferring patient to Pediatric ICU, if indicatedPatient and family counseling, education, and support as necessary.Collaboration with and place referrals to consulting services in multidisciplinary careRespond to calls from patients/families and care teams.Contribute to the development and modification of department specific quality improvement initiatives.Engage in professional development; attend continuing education/staff development programs to maintain knowledge of current literature.Triage calls from non-admitted patients or outside hospitals/emergency departments.Required QualificationsNPCurrent licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.Current specialty certification to practice as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the State of MichiganGraduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program.Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).Current DEA registration requiredAHA approved BLS and PALSFive years of clinical experience in pediatrics.PACurrent license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by ARC-PA or one of its predecessor agencies.Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).State of Michigan Controlled Substance License RequiredCurrent DEA registration requiredAHA approved BLS and PALSFive years of clinical experience in pediatrics.NoteEmployment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process.
