Position Summary:The High School Robotics Advisor is responsible for organizing, supervising, and supporting the school robotics program. The advisor promotes student learning and engagement through robotics competitions, engineering design challenges, teamwork, problem-solving, and STEM-related activities. The advisor fosters a safe, positive, and inclusive environment while helping students develop technical, leadership, and collaboration skills.Reports To:Activities Director, Building PrincipalEssential Duties:Provide leadership that promotes personal growth, confidence, and in a manner that is equitable for all participantsResponsible for the development of the training components for the activity which will focus on a positive experience for all participantsMonitor the work of all members to ensure their safetyDevelop communication procedures with parents, faculty, administration, and the public to share information regarding meeting times, projects and accomplishments of individuals and the group as appropriateEnsure student safety and appropriate conduct during all activities per district policies.Set the group's meeting schedule; will also work individually with students throughout the week (this may include meeting before, during and after the school day)Work with the Activities Assistant to schedule transportation and room(s) as neededSet the competition season schedule and submit that schedule to the Activities OfficeSubmit competition results to the Activities Director after each competitionOther duties as assignedQualifications:High School Diploma or GEDAbility to forward think and identify problems or issues and develop solutions to resolve issuesAbility to work with students in groups and in individual settingsDemonstrate organizational and communication skillsProven experience in teaching and modeling character and responsible behaviorPositive,high energy,and committedFirm understanding of, and proven support for, education-based interscholastic activities/athleticsView success not just as winning, but as helping teams and its members reach defined goalsExperience in computer programming and a firm understanding of technology preferredTerms of Employment:Length of assignment and compensation determined by the district's extracurricular salary schedule.Must meet all district requirements for extracurricular activity sponsors and advisorsSalary: Per SchedulePhysical Requirements: Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking.The Fort Madison Community School District is an EEO/AA employer
