Cat Scan Technologist

Reports Reports to: Director Imaging FLSA: Non-exempt Position Summary CT Technologist desired for dayshift position. Technologist must be registered in CT and have experience in CT Special Procedures. Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of anatomy, image quality, radiographic positioning, technique, radiation safety, imaging equipment, infection control, and quality control. Must communicate with patients, all staff and assist in maintaining a hazard‑free work area. The CT Technologist performs routine diagnostic imaging studies and may vary schedule. Patient population ranges from neonate to geriatric. The ARRT (R) (CT) Technologist provides services to all patients, families, and physicians serving this population. Education High school graduate or GED and a graduate of a JRC/CAHEA approved program in Radiologic Technology. Licenses & Certifications CT technologist must be registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist. Certifications: BLS. Minimum Work Experience One year recent experience in General Radiography. One or more years CT experience preferred. Essential Functions Ensures patient examinations are performed accurately and timely, not to exceed 30 minutes. Provides accurate patient positioning, computer entries and filming. Performs nuclear medicine scans according to established protocols and administers radiopharmaceuticals per radiologist prescribed protocols. Maintains effective use of time, reports availability accordingly, demonstrates willingness and ability to assist others, and consistently displays team effort. Applies knowledge to produce high quality diagnostic scan images, meeting or exceeding department guidelines. Maintains exam accuracy (minimum views, labeling, patient dose, positioning, patient history and shielding) and minimizes patient exposure. Maintains knowledge of equipment performance, reports malfunctions to supervisor, and conveys problems related to supplies or equipment. Demonstrates ability to resolve problems, understand instructions and underlying principles, reason and make sound judgments. Provides patient education relating to diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures. Learns and maintains knowledge of current imaging techniques and identifies methods to improve diagnostic quality, efficiency and customer relations. Accepts and initiates new tasks willingly. Maintains a safe working environment, professional cleanliness, attire and a positive pleasant attitude. Utilizes appropriate lines of communication. Maintains a good working relationship with nursing staff, referring physicians and the department. Complies with hospital and imaging policy/procedures 100% of the time; personnel file has no instances of personal counseling or corrective action for the evaluation year. Follows Infection Control Policies and Procedures—both hospital-wide and department specific. Assumes responsibility for following compliance guidelines with federal, state and local regulations within the department. Performs duties reasonably assigned by the supervisor, following oral and written directions. Follows Safety and Security policies and procedures, reporting violations as observed, and making corrective action immediately on life‑safety issues. Participates in the management and utilization of resources, including personnel and supplies. Accepts and strives to learn new tasks and routines; takes responsibility for maintaining accountability for improving job knowledge and skills. Shows active participation in Performance Improvement initiatives for the Department/Hospital/System, participating on Teams as appropriate.
