Respiratory Care Practitioner

Overview Responsible for providing cardiopulmonary care services in accordance with specific physician’s orders, department policies and procedures. In addition to performing RT duties, this person will work part-time as an Emergency Technician providing supportive care to the Emergency Department patients under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse or physician. Qualifications Graduate from an AMA approved school of Respiratory Therapy, with current California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT & CRT) licensure. Minimum 1+ years experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services preferred, with knowledge of medical terminology. Will consider exceptional new graduate. Must have current BLS and ACLS certificates, with PALS certificate required within 60-days of hire. Basic Arrhythmia (Telemetry) certification required within 90-days of hire. Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) preferred. Experience in acute hospital or ambulance setting and EMT certification is preferred. Must be able to utilize applicable respiratory equipment and perform chest PT. Must be able to effectively communicate in English; both verbal and written. Must have good interpersonal skills and interface professionally, tactfully and respectfully with patients, staff and the general public. Basic computer skills required.
