What You’ll Do:

Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established safety and accuracy protocols.

Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation to maintain specimen integrity.

Verify patient information by confirming demographics and obtaining signatures post-venipuncture to ensure accurate test results.

Educate patients about blood draw procedures, creating a calm and reassuring environment that fosters trust and confidence.

Maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment in accordance with safety policies and OSHA requirements.

Document all procedures meticulously, including demographic verification and test orders.

Assist with process improvements and uphold a high standard of customer service by communicating openly with patients, medical staff, and team members.

Adapt to different work settings, including patient service centers, medical offices, or other clinical environments based on operational needs.

Exercise clinical judgment to perform procedures accurately and efficiently, adhering to organizational policies and industry standards.

Demonstrate leadership and teamwork by supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive workplace culture.

Required Skills:

Minimum of 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary blood collection.

Strong proficiency in venipuncture techniques with a track record of error-free specimen collection.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly and compassionately.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient keyboard/data entry skills for maintaining accurate records.

Knowledge of safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality standards.

Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record, if travel is required.

Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, holidays, or overtime, and to cover multiple locations as needed.

Certification in phlebotomy preferred; CPR certification a plus.

Nice to Have Skills:

Medical assistant or paramedic training.

Experience with lab information systems or electronic health records.

Customer service experience in a retail or healthcare setting.

Bilingual skills can be an advantage for diverse patient populations.

Preferred Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

2+ years of phlebotomy experience, particularly in high-volume or clinical laboratory environments.

Other Requirements:

Ability to lift and maneuver equipment and specimens up to 30 lbs.

Capable of working in various environments, with travel and flexible hours required.

Commitment to patient confidentiality and a high standard of care.

Ability to make sound decisions based on established procedures and organizational policies.
