All of our DNP program's didactic faculty are doctorally trained. Doctor of Nursing Practice Specializations Care for patients 13 and older with complex acute and unstable chronic medical conditions. Oversee the health and well‑being of patients 13 and older and improve health outcomes. Develop greater management expertise and harness your experience to serve as a leader and role model in your organization. Manage disease prevention, health promotion, and restorative care in patients of all ages. Oversee the health and wellness of patients from birth to age 21 in pediatric primary care settings. Care for the mental and emotional well‑being of patients with psychiatric disorders and emotional challenges. Hands‑on practicums are integral to your doctoral learning experience. Our online Doctor of Nursing Practice program offers the Walden Practicum Pledge® to help you navigate the practicum process and ensure a successful placement. Your career options may include a role as a: Medical and health services manager Program Admission Considerations (BSN‑DNP track) You must have a current, active RN license, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent from an accredited school and meet the general admission requirements. Program Admission Considerations (MSN‑DNP track) You must have a current, active RN license, a Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent from an accredited school and meet the general admission requirements. Choose the BSN to DNP track if you are a registered nurse (RN) and have earned your bachelor’s in nursing degree. Choose the MSN to DNP track if you are a registered nurse (RN) and have earned your master’s in nursing degree. You will also be required to submit a completed online application, employment history, and official transcripts. Receive up to five credits at the end of the program tuition‑free in the DNP Traditional or DNP with a specialization in Executive Leadership. Receive four clinical practicum courses, up to 8 credits, tuition‑free in DNP with an NP specialization. Ongoing Military Offer New students who are service members or veterans of the U.S. armed forces are recognized in many programs with our Believe and Achieve Scholarship®, the Undergraduate Grant, or the PhD Grant, plus an additional 10% savings. State Enrollment Restrictions Walden currently cannot enroll residents of the following states/districts into any DNP Program or Specialization: Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island. Licensure and Certification The DNP nurse practitioner specializations programs are designed to prepare graduates with an active registered nurse (RN) license or APRN license to practice in the U.S. as nurse practitioners in their program specialty area. However, each state has its own academic preparation and authority to practice requirements. No graduate program can guarantee that graduates will obtain licensure to practice as a nurse practitioner. Students should consult the appropriate board of nursing or regulatory authority in the states or jurisdictions in which they reside or intend to seek licensure.
