Therapeutic Medical Physicist

Job TitleRadiotherapy Medical PhysicistDutiesThe duties include:Planning, delivering, verifying, and monitoring the quality assurance of radiotherapy at all levels of complexity. Recommending optimal modalities and treatment techniques for patients, and evaluating the safety and accuracy of planned and delivered radiation treatments.Planning and directing specialized programs encompassing all physics and clinical aspects of external beam and advanced treatments, such as Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), from simulation through delivery. Expertly operating Varian Eclipse, Varian Aria, Varian TrueBeam systems, CT Simulators, and specialized QA equipment/software.Providing technical oversight and expert guidance for the work of developmental TMPs, medical dosimetrists, and radiation therapists. Overseeing, designing, and approving treatment plans, and monitoring the accuracy of treatment data recorded in patient medical records.Providing specialized consultation to radiation oncologists regarding difficult treatment cases. Serving as a subject matter expert capable of providing consultative services to the National Radiation Oncology Program (NROP), the National Health Physics Program (NHPP), and other federal or professional organizations.Developing, operating, and fully documenting the medical physics quality assurance program. Ensuring strict compliance with federal and state regulations, working closely with the Radiation Safety Officer's radiation safety program.Collaborating with staff to create clinical protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in strict conformance with ASTRO APEX standards, and actively participating in the APEX accreditation process.Educating and training radiation oncology team members-including radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, and dosimetrists-on safety issues related to radiotherapy planning and delivery.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pmTelework: Not AvailableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Functional Statement #: 42025FRelocation/Recruitment Incentives: Authorized
