Job Summary:
The Pediatric Psychology (PEDS PSYCH) Psychiatry Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Oregon City, Oregon. The role involves providing acute psychiatric care in a Short Term Acute Care unit, with a focus on pediatric and adolescent patients experiencing mental health crises. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day and should have a minimum of one year of relevant experience. This position requires flexibility to float between nearby facilities as needed.

Job Details:

• Location: Oregon City, OR
• Shift: Rotating, 12-hour shifts
• Schedule: Minimum of 36 hours per week, with on-call coverage not required.
• Certifications and Education: Pending Psych RN license; must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Required Qualifications: One year of experience as a Psych RN, current BLS certification, and a pending Psych RN license. Valid vehicle is mandatory for this assignment.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with pediatric and adolescent mental health, familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system, and relevant community hospital experience.
• Patient Population: Pediatric and adolescent patients aged 6-17 years old experiencing acute mental health crises, including suicidal ideation or attempts, with diagnoses such as anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, psychotic disorders, and trauma-related disorders.
• Patient Care Environment: The unit has a daily census of 18-20 patients, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4-5 per RN during the day shifts and two RNs for 20 beds during night shifts. The unit provides specialized procedures including seclusion protocols, physical hold protocols, medication administration, blood glucose monitoring, and psychoeducation.
• Additional Responsibilities: Flexibility to float between units and sister facilities; must work at least three of the five holidays; must have a vehicle; undergo ongoing module training with approximately 16 hours of non-billable coursework.
• Other Requirements: Submission of two references within the last three years, including former charge nurses or lead candidates; no call-in responsibilities unless scheduled; adherence to facility policies, including COVID-19 and flu vaccination status.
