Set Up Mechanic

The Set Up Mechanic is responsible for assembling, setting up, operating, and maintaining cosmetic production and packaging machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing. This role supports production schedules by minimizing downtime, ensuring equipment is properly configured, and maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The Set Up Mechanic works closely with production and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and improve processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assemble and disassemble cosmetic production and packaging machines, such as fillers, cappers, labelers, mixers, and conveyors. Set up and adjust machine controls to regulate operating conditions such as material flow, temperature, or pressure. Load and unload materials and components for production lines. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure equipment efficiency and safety. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning machines to minimize downtime. Make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment as needed. Monitor the production process and conduct quality control checks on finished products to ensure they meet company standards. Verify product specifications such as height, color, and other attributes. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations including cGMP and FDA requirements. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to production output, machine changes, and material usage. Work closely with production and quality teams to meet manufacturing goals. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and improve production processes. Follow all safety protocols, cGMP, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) while performing work. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Abilities Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to assemble, operate, and maintain production equipment. Knowledge of machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, and basic repairs in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and job specifications. Understanding of cGMP, GDP, and FDA requirements for cosmetic and packaging manufacturing. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work efficiently under time constraints. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred. 2+ years of experience as a mechanic, machine operator, or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment, preferably cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or packaging. Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching required. Ability to work in noisy environments and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Working Conditions Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. May be exposed to noise, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and temperature variations. Must adhere to safety and cGMP protocols at all times.
