Job Description

Job Summary:
Assists the surgical team in preparing and supporting surgical procedures in the operating room. Ensures a sterile environment, handles instruments, supplies, and medications, and maintains equipment to facilitate smooth surgical operations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare for surgical cases by checking supplies and equipment for completeness and readiness.
• Assemble and set up sterile fields and operative instrumentation to ensure efficient access during procedures.
• Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and equipment, and ensure proper sterilization and cleanliness.
• Assist in handling instruments, supplies, and medications during surgeries, passing them to surgeons as needed.
• Perform proper counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and blades in partnership with the RN, adhering to safety standards.
• Transport patients and assist with housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized surgical environment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's/technical degree preferred.
• Certified Surgery Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification required.
• Previous scrub technician and operating room experience preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification from an approved vendor required; CNA certification preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and aseptic technique essential.
