CONTROLLER - Chartwells Higher Education - Binghamton, NY

Location: BINGHAMTON, NY Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 Job Summary We are seeking a Controller to oversee financial operations at one of our client locations. The successful candidate should possess strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to establish effective working relationships with team members. The role includes managing cash handling, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and inventory control. Key Responsibilities Responsible for all cash handling procedures Perform reconciliation and analysis for several balance sheet accounts Analyze financial results for both internal and external use Track and maintain monthly P/L and balance sheet activity Develop forecasts and budgets, identifying risks and opportunities Review general ledger and balance sheet Resolve various accounting/reconciliation issues Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including fiscal close and audit reporting Maintain inventory and cost control procedures Payroll and Human Resources administration Perform related duties and special projects as assigned Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, or equivalent professional experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience with revenue control, financial reporting and cash handling responsibilities, at least 3 years in a similar capacity Accounting experience in foodservice or retail industry required; foodservice operations experience a plus Experience with sales analysis and reporting Adept at planning, organizing and controlling complex processes and analyzing moderately complex financial information Excellent verbal and written communication skills Skilled at managing multiple priorities and relationships Proficient in Microsoft Office with a concentration in Excel; POS experience a plus Strong analytical and organizational skills Benefits Medical Dental Vision Life Insurance/ AD Disability Insurance Retirement Plan Paid Time Off Holiday Time Off (varies by site/state) Associate Shopping Program Health and Wellness Programs Discount Marketplace Identity Theft Protection Pet Insurance Commuter Benefits Employee Assistance Program Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) Paid Parental Leave Personal Leave Equal Opportunity Employer Compass Group is an equal opportunity employer.
