Position Title : Controller

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Controller to oversee accounting operations across a growing portfolio of businesses and investments. This role will manage financial reporting, month‑end and year‑end close processes, multi‑entity consolidations, and treasury functions while helping establish and strengthen internal accounting operations. The Controller will also play a key role in transitioning outsourced accounting functions in‑house, improving financial processes, and supporting the organization’s continued growth.

The ideal candidate is a detail‑oriented accounting professional with extensive GAAP knowledge, strong multi‑entity accounting experience, and the ability to manage complex financial operations in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment. This individual will bring a hands‑on approach, strong analytical skills, and the confidence to build scalable accounting processes while collaborating directly with senior leadership.

Salary Range : $195,000 - $250,000 / annually, DOE

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly and annual accounting close processes across 15+ entities
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Manage multi‑entity consolidations, intercompany transactions, and eliminations
• Convert cash‑basis accounting records to GAAP‑compliant financial reporting
• Prepare complete financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and statements of retained earnings
• Manage treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting
• Develop and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and chart‑of‑accounts structures
• Lead the transition of outsourced accounting functions to internal operations
• Utilize accounting systems and Excel to maintain accurate financial records and streamline reporting
• Support quarterly investor reporting and financial analysis
• Collaborate with senior leadership on financial planning, investment activities, and potential acquisitions
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency, accuracy, and scalability

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent relevant experience
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands‑on financial reporting and close responsibilities
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation
• Proven experience managing accounting operations across multiple entities
• Extensive experience with month‑end and year‑end close processes
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and account reconciliations
• Experience preparing complete financial statements and establishing accounting processes
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and financial reporting requirements independently
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with senior leadership
• CPA designation preferred
• Experience in private equity, family office accounting, or multi‑site healthcare operations preferred
• Knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles preferred
• Experience with NetSuite, treasury management, investor reporting, and chart‑of‑accounts development preferred
• Previous Big Four public accounting experience combined with hands‑on industry accounting experience is a plus
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule with at least three days per week in the Dallas office
