Department: Finance Reports To: Controller Location: On-Site – Newark, CA Travel: Up to 25% FLSA: Salaried, Full-Time, Exempt Revision Date: March 2026 Summary The Cost Accounting Manager oversees cost accounting operations, inventory valuation, and manufacturing financial reporting within the Epicor ERP system. This role ensures accurate product costing, monitors inventory transactions, analyzes manufacturing variances, and supports operational leadership with financial insights to improve profitability and cost control. The position requires travel to multiple company locations and alignment with Company Core Values. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Cost Accounting & Analysis Manage all cost accounting activities for manufacturing operations, including review of variances. Maintain standard cost structures, bills of materials (BOM), and routing costs within Epicor and ensure timely opening and closing of work orders. Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and provide explanations to management. Monitor cost of goods sold (COGS) and product margins. Conduct product cost analysis and profitability reporting. Identify and support cost reduction initiatives and operational efficiency improvements. Inventory Management & Control Oversee inventory accounting and valuation within Epicor ERP. Monitor inventory transactions including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and scrap. Reconcile inventory subledger to the general ledger. Lead physical inventory counts and cycle count programs across locations. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances. Monitor obsolete, slow‑moving, and excess inventory and provide financial analysis. Ensure accurate inventory costing methods (standard costing, FIFO, etc.). Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory controls and turnover. Review and approve inventory adjustments and write‑offs. Epicor ERP System Management Utilize Epicor ERP for cost tracking, inventory management, and financial reporting. Maintain item costing, cost rollups, and inventory costing structures in Epicor. Ensure accurate integration between manufacturing, inventory, and financial modules. Develop and maintain Epicor financial and cost reports for leadership. Prepare monthly manufacturing cost reports and variance analysis. Manage inventory valuation reporting and reconciliation. Support month‑end and year‑end close activities related to inventory and cost accounting. Assist with internal and external audits related to cost and inventory controls. Develop management reports and dashboards for operational performance. Budgeting & Forecasting Support annual budgets and forecasts for manufacturing and inventory costs. Provide inventory cost projections and margin analysis. Assist with product pricing analysis and cost modeling. Travel & Multi‑Location Support Travel to manufacturing plants, warehouses, or other company locations as needed. Participate in on‑site inventory counts, process reviews, and cost analysis. Collaborate with local operations, production, and supply chain teams to improve cost visibility and financial controls. Provide financial guidance and training to site leadership regarding cost accounting and inventory procedures. Uphold company core values. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Must have requisite knowledge and experience for the role. Experience with ERP-based inventory and costing systems. Excellent attention to detail. Follow instructions and work with minimal supervision. Strong communication, written and oral, and problem‑solving skills. Adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands. Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills. Cross‑functional collaboration skills. Ability to work with multiple locations and operational teams. Strong cost accounting and inventory accounting expertise. Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5–8+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience managing inventory accounting and controls.Epicor ERP experience (Epicor 10 or Epicor Kinetic required). Experience with standard costing and manufacturing financial reporting. Language Skills Basic safety and manufacturing instructions speaking and understanding, as needed. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers; multiply and divide with tens and hundreds. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated instructions; handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Authorization to work in the United States. Eligible for required U.S. Government export control authorizations. Physical Demands Stand, walk, hear, use hands/fingers; handle, feel, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. Frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds. Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work Environment Exposure to moving mechanical parts; hot/cold environment, chemicals/fumes, loud noises, electrical shock, vibration.
