DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports the health, comfort, and daily functioning of residents living at the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home. The work focuses on direct care, respectful interactions, and steady attention to resident needs. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

• Care Plan Support: Attend team discussions and share observations to guide resident treatment plans
• Daily Living Assistance: Help residents complete activities such as bathing, grooming, eating, and mobility tasks
• Safety and Monitoring: Watch for health or behavior changes and report concerns to professional staff
• Transport and Escort: Move residents safely within the facility and accompany them to appointments as needed
• Room and Supply Upkeep: Maintain tidy resident areas and restock essential care items
• Documentation Duties: Record services provided in accordance with required standards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment (8 hours per day; 40 hours per week)
• Work hours are 3rd shift (10:45 PM to 7:15 AM), including rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch. You will be required to work every other weekend.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,294.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
• This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirement:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
