Manager Nuclear Engineering - OSE Electrical - McGuire Nuclear Station

Position Overview The open position is for the McGuire Nuclear Station (MNS) Operations Support Engineering (OSE) – Electrical Manager. This position reports to the Engineering General Manager and manages a staff of engineers who provide support to the station in the area of Electrical Engineering. Basic/Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related sciences 4 years of related experience, including 1 year nuclear power plant experience and 0.25 years on-site experience Desired Qualifications Work experience with electrical engineering, digital process systems, and/or cyber security Experience as a System Engineer Registered Professional Engineer SRO or SRO Certification Necessary overall nuclear background to determine when to call consultants and contractors for dealing with complex problems beyond the scope of owner-organization expertise Responsibilities Manage a staff of degreed engineers and other professional technical personnel who perform engineering activities such as preparing and reviewing calculations and various engineering evaluations Monitor system health and support troubleshooting and failure investigation activities Determine appropriate maintenance strategy and work scope, and support fleet/site initiatives Ensure use of technical conscience principles and technical rigor during development of engineering products and recommendations commensurate with safety significance Provide engineering expertise to recognize and resolve complex engineering/technical problems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient station operations/power generation Expand the team for dealing with complex problems beyond the scope of owner-organization expertise Ensure adherence to technical and administrative procedures and safe work practices and policies applicable to nuclear generation Ensure capable individuals are assigned to perform the role of Operations Support Engineer and appropriate training is provided to maintain knowledge and skills Represent MNS Engineering (ENG) as the duty manager on a rotational basis and fulfill an Emergency Response Organization (ERO) role Perform observations and provide coaching to improve performance Identify gaps in department and worker performance and develop solutions to close the gaps Identify opportunities to leverage innovation and work elimination to improve efficiency and champion implementation of those opportunities Collaborate with other departments to support work management, outage management, and equipment reliability initiatives Work with employees to create Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and support their career progression and performance improvement Participate in ENG training forums/processes to ensure adequate line ownership of training Motivate team to display leadership and team effectiveness attributes that are foundational to excellent organizational effectiveness Travel Requirements 5-15% Benefits Relocation assistance provided (as applicable) This is not a Visa Sponsored Position.
