Spanish Heritage Language Teacher Core Instructional Responsibilities 1. Academic Challenge (The Mind) Instruction: Plan and implement a rigorous Spanish Heritage Language curriculum and an AP Spanish Language Curriculum for both native and non-native speakers Linguistic & Cultural Inquiry: Foster critical thinking, sociolinguistic awareness, and intellectual curiosity by guiding students through text analysis, academic writing, formal registers, and the exploration of diverse Spanish-speaking cultures, histories, and literatures. Inclusive Instruction: Utilize diverse instructional strategies and differentiated learning experiences to meet the unique needs of heritage learners with varying levels of oral and written proficiency. Provide specific academic tutoring for students at risk of failure. Resource & Media Management: Maintain an organized, engaging, and culturally rich classroom environment, effectively utilizing authentic texts, digital media, and literature while ensuring all classroom activities adhere to school safety protocols. Professional Growth: Keep abreast of new developments in Heritage Language pedagogy, bilingual education, and secondary literacy acquisition through conferences, journals, and workshops. 2. Spiritual & Personal Nurturing (The Heart) Culture and Community: Integrate the Holy Cross charism into the culture of the classroom, honoring and validating students’ cultural identities and linguistic backgrounds as gifts to the community. Faith Formation: Participate actively in school masses, prayer services, and other school-wide faith formation events. Professional & Supervisory Duties 1. Student Supervision & Safety Assigned Supervision: Participate in the Advisory program and perform duties such as cafeteria supervision, study group or tutoring session monitoring, and supervision of assigned student areas for community period or other school events. Substitution: Accept substitution duties for peers when needed to ensure continuity of student care. 2. Community Engagement & Administration Communication: Maintain regular contact with parents, guardians, and sponsors regarding student progress, leveraging bilingual communication skills to bridge connections with Spanish-speaking families. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate attendance and academic records for all teaching and supervisory periods. Policy Adherence: Uphold all school policies as outlined in the Student Agenda and Employee Handbook. Departmental Support: Participate in the school improvement process and attend all faculty and World Languages departmental meetings. 1. Events & Extracurriculars School Calendar: Attend Fall Parent Meetings, Back-to-School Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Open Houses, Ninth Grade Entrance/Registration days, and Graduation. After-School Involvement: Lead, advise, or organize after-school activities or clubs (e.g., Club Raíces , Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, or Guadalupe Mass). Event Supervision: Attend at least three athletic events per year and one social event per semester. Assistant Principal Reports To: Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Job Summary: An assistant principal (AP) serves on the school leadership team, supporting the principal in daily operations, faculty management, and instructional leadership. The AP administers the educational program in order to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with the school’s policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law. The AP provides leadership in program development and improvement, as well as in professional faculty development. They assume full administrative responsibility in the principal’s absence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Principal understands, accepts, and articulates the Mission Statement of Holy Trinity High School and focuses on internal operations including the items below: Manages and builds the academic schedule in the Learning Management System a) Works with counselor to build and/or schedule the students and teachers b) Builds and/or regularly evaluate master schedule for accuracy (credit, weight, etc..) each semester c) Manages and updates the bell schedule in the Learning Management System d) Monitor the maintenance and quality of the current academic program to ensure rigor and standards e) Develop the Curriculum Guide in conjunction with the Department Chair Committee and Principal. f) Coordinate Grade Level Meetings and Freshmen Academy g) Work with the Director of Technology to accurately transfer grades from Schoology into the Infinite Campus learning management system h) Coordinate the Dual Credit Program with Benedictine University, including organizing teacher and course offerings, registrations, and grade reporting Makes all preparations related to student testing including being the main point of contact with ACT and the College Board and managing all logistics internally for both internal and external testing a) Overseeing SAT/ACT administration b) Facilitating all AP testing (ordering exams, scheduling, staffing, security, accommodations, and compliance with College Board requirements) c) Working with the counseling department, student support and instructional staff to ensure testing accommodations are implemented for students with IEPs and 504 plans d) Training proctors and maintaining testing security e) Communicating testing information to students and families f) Reviewing testing data to inform school improvement efforts MTSS-Mult-tiered System of Support a) Supports the Principal in overseeing all student support programs including the Student Support Team (SSST), Community Period, Moreau Center, Tutoring, etc… b) Provides ineligibility list for Athletics and SSST Community Period a) Works with community period team to provide weekly lesson plans for advisory b) Maintains and updates the supervision schedule for Community Period c) Works with Campus Minister to share and post the club schedule for Community Period d) Work with students to manage morning announcements Teacher Support a) Support the Principal to conduct observations and provide feedback b) Facilitate weekly department meetings c) Support the Principal with walkthroughs d) Work with Principal to support teachers in identifying instructional goals e) Work with Principal to support with Professional Development for teachers Department Chairs a) Work with the Principal on the agenda for the various department meetings, coordinating topics from the Department Chair Committee, and including professional data and planning work throughout the school year, as needed b) Articulates, advocates, and cultivates core values that enhance high expectations, equity, inclusiveness and social justice Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required Skills/Abilities A graduate degree, preferably in educational leadership or curriculum; Knowledge of and interest in securing and/or implementing funding from state and federal education resources, ie Title I and similar funding; Proven leadership experience, with demonstrated success in academic program development, faculty engagement, and community building; An excellent communicator with exceptional written and oral communication skills, capable of articulating the school’s mission with clarity and inspiration to diverse audiences; Teacher at heart who genuinely enjoys working with young people and understands the classroom experience from a place of personal practice and passion; Strong cultural competency, capable of leading a diverse school community with grace, humility, and conviction; Experienced teacher and knowledgeable professional resource able to provide observation, evaluation support and conversation to both new and veteran teachers; Enthusiasm to lead in partnership with a team of invested and experienced colleagues, and an appreciation for the School’s well-established history and traditions. Faith & Retreats: Participate in school masses, prayer services, retreats, and other school-wide faith formation events.
