Overview University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), operating within Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is dedicated to excellence in providing physical, mental health, dental and sex offender treatment services to those involved in the criminal justice system in New Jersey. UCHC operates with a total budget of $150 million and approximately 1,000 staff. Posting Summary Per Diem Technician I for Midstate Correctional Facility located in Wrightstown, NJ. The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the prison. Responsibilities Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR). Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination. Obtains specimen collection and handling, including, but not limited to, drawing blood. Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit. Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner. Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms. Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards to the pharmacy provider/local pharmacy. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience: At least 2 years of progressively responsible related healthcare experience. Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification. CPR certification. Valid Driver’s License; must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation between sites. Salary & Benefits Hourly rate: $18.45 (starting). Minimum salary: $15.92.
