Group Fitness InstructorNorth Mobile Family YMCA - Saraland, AL 36571Position SummaryThe Group Exercise Instructor leads safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes that support the YMCA's mission and promote healthy living for all.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead group exercise classes in accordance with YMCA standardsDemonstrate proper technique and offer modifications for all fitness levelsCreate a welcoming, inclusive, and motivating environmentEnsure participant safety and follow YMCA policies and proceduresArrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classesReport incidents, injuries, or equipment issues to the supervisorChild Abuse Prevention LanguageEmployees and volunteers who directly supervise consumers will:Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.Attend required abuse risk management training.Employees and volunteers who do not directly supervise consumers will:Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.Attend required abuse risk management training.Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.Maintenance employees and volunteers—ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc.Front desk personnel—ensure consumers are properly signed in and signed out, ensures only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc.Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.QualificationsCurrent group exercise certification from a nationally recognized organization or YMCA-approved equivalentCurrent CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsCommitment to the YMCA mission and core valuesPhysical RequirementsAbility to lead and demonstrate exercises for up to 60 minutesAbility to lift and move fitness equipmentWork EnvironmentIndoor fitness studios and/or gym spacesEqual Opportunity Employer: The YMCA of South Alabama is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
