VIP Staffing is immediately hiring a Lead Design Engineer for a leading organization in Rio Rancho, NM 

This is a  Full Time Direct Hire position with a schedule of Monday-Thursday 6:30am - 4pm and some fridays 

Pay for this position is $90,000- $110,000 DOE

As a Lead Design Engineer you will: 

• Perform assigned duties as related to specific projects such as product documentation, part development, preparation of specifications and drawings, plans, bills of material and routings. 
• Produce drawings and other engineering documentation in compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.  Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems. 
• Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine parts and routings that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods. 
• Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design, U.L. compliance, and test problems.
• Consult with the manufacturing group regularly to see that parts, drawings and other associated documents match the processes, machinery, equipment and skill levels available. 
• Perform required changes in compliance with procedures
• Prepare interim and completion project reports.  Completes maintains and processes pertinent paperwork and records. 
• Prepares product or system layouts and detailed drawings and schematics. 
• Assists in final testing of new products and submittal to Underwriters laboratories for product listing
• Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
• Sees that the inventory item master and associated documents are always accurate and up to date, and that no changes, additions or deletions are made until the proper procedures and documentation are employed
• See that all documentation is produced using the same format, procedure, and style, and that the documentation is stored in such a way as to allow for easy retrieval in conformance with the applicable policy. 
• Provide product structures that meet or exceed budgeted costs as determined by sales including components and added labor. 

Lead Design Engineer candidates must meet the following requirements for consideration: 

• Must have A.A.S. degree, preferred B.S. in mechanical Engineering 
• 2+ years experience in a lighting products engineering environment in support of a manufacturing operation
• Must have extraordinary organizational skills. 
• Must have knowledge of materials, fabrication, processes, tooling, equipment utilization, and quality control standars common to the lighting industry. 
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solid Works programs or equivalent
• Requires good communication skills
• Excellent Time management skills
• Must have a positive Can Do attitude
• Great interpersonal Skills
