Job Overview
The full-time Outreach Athletic Trainer position provides athletic training services for Children's Hospital Colorado's community sports partners, with primary responsibilities supporting the Gold Crown Foundation in Lakewood, CO, and Colorado Edge Soccer Club in Arvada, CO. The athletic trainer will work alongside the lead athletic trainers at both partnerships to provide injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, treatment, rehabilitation guidance, and return-to-play recommendations for youth athletes.
Coverage will primarily focus on Gold Crown basketball and volleyball programs and Colorado Edge soccer athletes during practices, competitions, tournaments, and special events. While these partnerships will be the primary focus of the role, the athletic trainer may occasionally assist with additional outreach partnerships, tournaments, and community events throughout the Denver Metro Area.
The primary responsibilities for the Athletic Trainer are to provide superior rehabilitative care to injured athletes and patients, educate the public on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness and other health-related issues, and maintain the highest standards of care to student athletes under the direction of the team physician.
The Athletic Trainer I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP). Team members in this position may work in a clinical setting or an outreach setting. In a clinical setting, the Athletic Trainer I performs orthopedic evaluation of patients and communicates findings. In an outreach setting, the Athletic Trainer I provides daily medical coverage for trainings, practices and events. As an entry level position, team members in this position receive direct supervision and guidance from higher level Athletic Trainers, supervisors and/or providers regarding proper documentation in medical notes, medical terminology, use of "dot phrases", relationship building and time management.
