Social Sales Manager

Job Details Location: Saybrook Point Resort & Marina – Old Saybrook, CT 06475 Position Type: Full Time Salary: $70,000 – $75,000 per year + bonus incentive plan Job Category: Sales Reports to: Director of Sales FLSA Classification: Exempt (Salary) Summary / Objective The Social Sales Manager is responsible for achieving food and beverage, hotel accommodation, and function room rental revenue goals by soliciting and booking corporate functions that ensure customer satisfaction and maximize hotel revenue and profitability. Essential Functions Greeting guests enthusiastically and maintaining a neat professional appearance. Act as an ambassador for the brand with a positive outlook. Implement brand’s service strategy and initiatives in all sales processes. Execute networking strategy, outbound solicitation, and community involvement to drive lead generation. Sell programs and functions, respond to inquiries promptly, and enter all information into the booking system. Entertain potential clients with menu presentations and property tours. Negotiate to achieve maximum revenues and profits while maintaining guest satisfaction. Maintain accurate trace systems for all sales activity and communicate guest requirements to operational departments. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Fully comply with Inn’s policies, procedures, health and safety policies. Marketing and Financial Duties Increase revenues, control expenses, and provide ROI to ownership. Maintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits in all catering areas. Develop and analyze annual food & beverage spreadsheet to track progress. Manage yield by “minimum expenditure” ensuring each piece of business is financially viable. Negotiate contracts, BEOs, event planning, and follow-through to achieve guest satisfaction. Confirm agreements, secure guest signatures, and process deposits/payments. Maintain catering files and update annual competitive marketing analysis with Director of Sales. Suggest innovative marketing ideas and develop deployment strategies to grow market share. Attend sales strategy meetings and submit weekly activity reports. Operational Duties Ensure seamless turnover from sales to operations and back to sales. Work closely with all departments involved in executing catering events. Preview rooms set‑ups one hour prior to event. Introduce guests to Banquet Manager or Captain and review event details. Observe service, food quality, and presentation as needed. Collaborate with Director of Sales and Chef on pricing specialty menus. Collaborate with Banquet Manager to ensure quality levels and banquet set‑ups. Assist in reviewing and updating menus regularly to meet guest needs and maximize revenue. Attend weekly BEO meetings with operational team. Supervisory Essential Duties Provide day‑to‑day leadership and training to sales coordinators. Oversee booking goals and property revenues. Qualifications and Competencies Online savvy, web, social media, e‑commerce expertise. Strong revenue and budget management skills. Positive interpersonal skills. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence. Excellent email etiquette. Ability to negotiate sales terms and pricing and translate into written contract. Work Environment Hospitality setting with exposure to weather conditions. Moderate noise levels. Physical Demands Stand, move, walk up to 1.5 miles, climb stairs, sit at desk throughout shift. Lift or carry goods weighing minimum 15 lbs intermittent. Use office equipment such as keyboard, calculator, telephone. Work knowledge of English mandatory. Education and Experience 2‑year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related major + 4 years experience, OR 4‑year bachelor’s degree in similar major + 2 years experience. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree. Supervisory experience. Social sales experience. Hotel industry work experience with progressive growth. CWP and/or CMP certification. Additional Eligibility Requirements Maintain all current licenses and certifications. Proficient with hotel services/features and local attractions. Maintain high work area and appearance standards. Available days, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended hours as business dictates. Work Authorization Requires legally authorized to work in the United States.
