Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a X‑Ray Technologist in Manhattan. Job Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned. Demonstrate knowledge of hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology. Correctly choose appropriate patient information from the HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Access patient information such as appointment times, type of exam, and patient reports. Maintain confidentiality of privileged matters. Be knowledgeable of the total cycle of RIS patient tracking. Follow departmental policy of documenting begin, complete and departure times in the RIS. Have working knowledge of film library functions. Verify orders and schedule exams in RIS from the order entry queue, and modify exams when necessary. Effectively assess patient information and status and follow appropriate procedure(s) accordingly. Use standard procedures to identify the correct patient using two identifiers (full name and birth date). Verify wristband, call patient by last name, and confirm identity. Explain procedure and equipment to the patient clearly. Address patient questions and maintain comfort and privacy throughout the procedure. Position patient and radiographic equipment appropriately, adjust settings for maximum information, use lead markers, and ensure high‑quality x‑rays. Use positioning and immobilizing devices and consider protocols to determine positioning and technique. Perform transmission and/or segmentation for transmission to PACS in a complete and proper anatomic display. Generate high‑quality hard copies of images when necessary. Use efficient methods to complete examinations within a reasonable timeframe. Maintain cleanliness of the radiographic area, prepare equipment and supplies in advance, and adapt the work schedule for STAT and emergency cases. Recognize a medical emergency and notify nurse, PA, and/or MD immediately. Apply proper radiation safety procedures, use gonadal shielding, restrict beam size, eliminate accidental exposures, and maintain radiation detection badges and rings. Demonstrate skill in equipment set‑up, utilization, and maintenance. Perform visual and manual quality control checks of X‑ray equipment and report any malfunction or damage. Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with patients, physicians, nurses, and office and clinical staff. Assist the section in completing special projects, reports, and activities. Maintain supplies, cleanliness of space, restock supplies as needed, and notify supervisor of any shortages. Minimum Qualifications Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology. New York State license or temporary permit to practice. Diagnostic Radiology Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications College graduate. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. Salary Range NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state law on salary transparency in job advertisements. The salary range for the role is $83,158.30 – $94,898.30 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
