REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION LEVEL:

High school diploma

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

One to three years' experience in a similar setting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent keyboarding, use of wrists, hands, fingers, speaking, typing and writing. Frequent filing, sitting, standing and walking

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Organizational and multitasking skills, computer software and hardware knowledge, ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, and date bases, and the ability to adapt to a frequently changing work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

1. Performs circulation duties.
2. Re-shelves library books.
3. Prepares overdue library material notices. Assists the librarian in helping students and teachers with classroom research projects.
4. Enters data into the computer, for example, inventory, book records, and supplemental reading books.
5. Processes new library materials.
6. Distributes library mail.
7. Assists the librarian in maintaining the on-line and in-print catalog.
8. Mends library materials.
9. Maintains current inventory of all library materials and equipment..
10. Supervises students in the library media center during the standard student day.
11. Successfully completes First Aid, CPR, and SD Board of Nursing approved Medication Administration training and certification.
12. Provides care/first aid for students with injury and/or illness. Care could be emergent or non-emergent in nature.
13. Completes district accident reports.
14. Provides care for students with chronic health conditions, in accordance with student's care plan as delegated by the school nurse. Care could be emergent or non-emergent in nature.
15. Obtains authorization, logs, and dispenses medication to students, as delegated by the school nurse.
16. Processes student immunizations in accordance with SD state law and district procedures.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
18. Maintains library, computer labs, equipment and video schedules.
19. Order supplies for library and teacher workroom.

PAY INFORMATION

Clerical Class I - Level FX, starting at $18.53 per hour

2026-2027 Clerical Salary Schedule

Pay Day: Last working day of each month.

HOURS & FTE

Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch

1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 9 months
