Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Family Maternity Services Duration: 20 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2-3 years minimum License: Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License in state of practice or compact Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Must-Have: - Patient Care - Labor and Delivery Nursing - Postpartum Nursing - Nursery Care - Antepartum Nursing Description: Provide care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, gynecological, and nursery patients. Assure proper nursing care according to established standards and practices. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate daily patient care. Prioritize the needs of the family unit during health and illness. Direct personnel assigned to you. Complete initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs. Implement plans of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modify plans of care based on continuous evaluations. Report and/or correct safety hazards and incidents to ensure patient and employee safety. Communicate directly with others to resolve issues promptly. Provide constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Identify your own learning needs and take initiative to address them. Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies. Recognize norms for the population receiving care and identify abnormalities to report to a physician. Assist with orientation, training, and supervision of assigned staff members. Perform fetal heart monitoring correctly, both external and internal. Conduct vaginal exams to assess position, dilation, and station. Understand administration and maintenance of tocolytic agents in antepartum patients. Provide comfort measures as needed for patients. Serve efficiently as a circulating nurse for vaginal deliveries. Participate in transferring maternal patients to other facilities as necessary. Instruct patients in skills related to peri-care, breast care, proper diets, and post-delivery or surgical activity.
