Job Description

The School Cook plays a crucial role in ensuring that students receive nutritious and well-prepared meals in a school cafeteria setting. This position is responsible for preparing breakfast and lunch, including standard lunches and special dietary meals, while maintaining high standards of food safety and kitchen cleanliness. The School Cook works under the supervision of the Cafeteria Manager and Food Service Director during evening shifts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast and lunch meals according to set menus
• Plan menus that meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate special dietary needs
• Ensure food safety and sanitation compliance in all kitchen operations
• Manage inventory and order necessary kitchen supplies
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and proper sanitation practices
• Control portion sizes and execute recipes accurately
• Collaborate effectively with the kitchen team and management

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in food preparation
• Food Handler Certification
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Proficiency in cooking techniques and recipe execution
• Inventory management skills
• Strong time management and attention to detail
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
