CNC Mill Machinist – 1st Shift (3, 4 & 5-Axis Setup Operator)

Location: Schiller Park, IL

Shift: 1st Shift | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM | Monday – Friday

Pay Rate: Up to $35.00/hour (Based on experience)

About the Shop:

Join a stable, highly organized 50-person precision manufacturing environment. We run a clean, modern, well-lit job shop featuring 3-axis, 4-axis rotary, and 5-axis trunnion vertical machining centers. This role offers complete ownership of setups, troubleshooting, and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setup & Operation: Independently perform complete setups and efficient changeovers on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis vertical CNC milling centers (Fanuc and Okuma OSP controls).

• Program Editing: Read, interpret, and modify G/M code CNC programs at the machine. Adjust tool numbers, offsets, and work-shifts.

• Quality & Inspection: Work from complex engineering drawings and blueprints. Conduct first-part inspections to ensure total conformance.

• Production Management: Efficiently manage a high-mix, low-volume workflow. Run dual machines when cycle times permit.

• Materials: Select proper feeds and speeds to machine tool steels and other challenging materials.

Position Requirements:

• 3 to 5+ years of CNC mill setup and operation experience in a job shop environment.

• Strong proficiency with Fanuc controls and G/M code editing.

• Ability to run parts ranging from 0.5 to 22 inches in diameter.

• Proven experience machining tool steels and reading complex blueprints.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience running Okuma OSP controls.

• Exposure to CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SCHILLER PARK, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
