The Role

The Peer Respite Intake Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for people interested in staying at Rosewood and coordinates the intake and guest transition process. The Intake Coordinator is a member of the Rosewood leadership team, provides peer support to guests, participates in on-call coverage, supports community outreach, and may provide supervision to designated peer staff.

Location: In Person (Williston, Vermont)

Schedule: Full time, non-exempt hourly employee (35–40 hours per week). Some evening, weekend, and on-call availability required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective guests interested in staying at Rosewood.

• Connect with prospective guests to explain peer respite, answer questions, and explore whether Rosewood may be a good fit for what they are seeking.

• Coordinate guest intake, arrival, and transition from Rosewood back into the community.

• Provide guests and community partners with accurate information about Rosewood, including length of stay, supports available, house processes, and expectations.

• Maintain accurate and timely intake, occupancy, waitlist, and other required program information.

• Identify barriers to accessing Rosewood and work with program leadership to improve equitable access to the program.

• Provide excellent, consistent, and equitable peer support to guests staying at Rosewood.

• Participate in community outreach and develop relationships with organizations and providers that may connect people with Rosewood.

• Participate as a member of the Rosewood leadership team, including leadership meetings, team meetings, program development, and quality improvement activities.

• Participate in shared leadership on-call coverage and provide support during urgent staffing, guest, or operational situations.

• Provide direct shift coverage when needed to support sustainable 24/7 operations.

• Participate in responses to program incidents and collaborative debriefing and follow-up.

• As assigned, provide supervision, coaching, and ongoing support to designated peer staff, including participation in reviews, training, and performance support.

• Participate in recruitment and hiring as requested.

• Attendance at the annual All Staff and Programmatic Retreats is an expectation of employment with Pathways Vermont unless excused by the employee’s manager/HR.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Personal experience of mental health distress, extreme states, plans or thoughts of dying by suicide, or other experiences that others may label as a mental health challenge is required.

• Ability to intentionally share one’s own personal transformative life experiences as part of providing peer support.

• Experience providing peer support preferred.

• Experience with intake, coordination, community outreach, or residential programs preferred.

• Experience supervising or supporting staff preferred.

• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and organizational skills.

• Ability to communicate with people experiencing significant distress while supporting choice, self-determination, and different ways of understanding their experiences.

• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, flexibility, compassion, and commitment to Pathways Vermont’s mission.

• Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, and sensitivity to diverse populations including People of Color, persons with disabilities, individuals who have experienced trauma, and persons who have experienced oppression.

• Personal experience of homelessness or other life challenges considered an asset.

• Risk and discomfort tolerance.

• Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle available for work purposes, and current automobile insurance.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• Frequent operation of a computer and other office machinery.

• Frequent talking and exchange of information through spoken communication.

• Moderate amounts of sedentary work.

• Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and light lifting while participating in activities at the house.

• Occasional lifting and carrying of 30–40 pounds.

• Frequent exposure to outside environmental conditions while accompanying guests or completing community outreach.

• Frequent exposure to high levels of noise and/or persons experiencing distress.

• Potential exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids while supporting individuals who may participate in physical self-harm.

Compensation

• $25 - $27 per hour, non-exempt.
