LVN Charge Nurse

LVN Charge NurseResponsible for providing nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practices, regulations, and directed by the Director of Nursing. The Charge Nurse will lead or direct licensed and non-professional staff in the delivery of direct resident care and support functions.Essential functions include:Providing the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients in the unitMaking nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employeesMaintaining acceptable standards of patient careIdentifying problems and guiding personnel to their solutionCreating a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnelAccurately and promptly implementing physicians' ordersSupporting and enforcing infection-control policies and proceduresUsing the system to convey/receive resident informationMaintaining a professional approach with confidentialityCooperating and maintaining good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitorsObtaining and documenting nursing history from the patient and/or significant other that is comprehensive of present condition and prior problemsPerforming basic assessment of the patient, indicating adequate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathologyRecording vital signs, noting changes, and pursuing more-specific investigation as neededAssessing for and notifying physician and other appropriate parties of changes in conditionUsing assessment information to develop a care plan before the end of duty time that communicates enough information for incoming personnel to adequately care for the patientUsing care plans as a basis for providing safe and therapeutic care to patientsConsistently following established standards, policies, and procedures in providing nursing careAccepting accountability for clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of nonprofessional personnelCommunicating with the patient and his or her family and other members of the health care team in carrying out the goals of the care planPerforming competently those technical skills considered basic to the type of care given in that unitResponding appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situationsSupporting standards of nursing care through adherence to existing policies and proceduresSeeking guidance when encountering nursing procedures and responsibilities that have not been masteredPromoting positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guestsUsing tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situationsUsing appropriate workplace behavior and adhering to dress code at all timesUnderstanding and adhering to the guidelines of "Residents Rights" and assuring resident safetyQualifications:Required:Current LVN licenseCPR certified required; 30 days will be given to complete a course and get certifiedAbility to understand, remember, and carry out verbal or written instructions in EnglishAbility to complete assignments in a timely mannerAbility to be flexible and positive with intermittent interruptionsPreferred:2 years nursing experience in long term care/skilled nursingPhysical requirements include the ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.Work schedule is as assigned, including some weekends, evenings, and holidays.Work environment is clinical.Caraday Healthcare provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, or any other characteristic protected by law.
