divh2HVAC Mechanic I Or HVAC Mechanic II/h2pCarnegie Mellon Universitys Facilities Management (FMS) department is searching for an HVAC Mechanic I or HVAC Mechanic II to join our team! In this role, you will perform work such as maintaining, repairing, and operating HVAC equipment including electronic control systems, self-contained air conditioning units, refrigeration equipment in laboratories and dining service facilities, fan coil units, air handling units and fans./ppCore responsibilities will include:/pulliTroubleshoot, diagnose and repair all HVAC equipment including fan coil units, air handling units, VAV boxes and all associated components./liliRepair and replace expansion valves, compressors, motors and coils./liliCheck HVAC distribution system for property velocity, volume, temperature and pressure./liliProvide technical assistance with the design of HVAC systems including installations and modifications to existing systems./liliResponsible for completing preventive maintenance on all HVAC systems and some refrigeration systems./liliEvaluate HVAC systems for performance and safety standards./liliAdjust and repair pneumatic, electric, and electronic control components/liliSupervise and control equipment via building automation systems/liliRequisition job parts and supplies/liliReading and interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams, and being familiar with building codes/liliOther duties as assigned/li/ulpFlexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within the department of Facilities Management. We are looking for someone who shares our values and who will support the mission of the university through their work./ppYou Must Demonstrate:/pulliStrong communication skills and ability to perform clearly defined tasks with minimal direction./liliAbility to work independently and make appropriate decisions as to when additional help is needed to correct issues./liliAbility to professionally manage interactions with challenging customers./liliAttention to detail; keeping and maintaining accurate and detailed reports and records./liliAbility to move and work in confined spaces, up and down ladders and to work from ladders, scaffolding and bucket truck platform/liliAbility to lift 40 pounds from ground to overhead; Occasionally work outside during inclement conditions./liliAbility to pass a physical exam for clearance to wear a respirator when/if working near hazardous environments./li/ulpQualifications:/ppHVAC I:/pulliHigh School diploma or GED required/liliGraduation from a trade school or apprenticeship program as a HVAC or Air Conditioning mechanic required/liliMinimum of three (3) years experience as a journeyman level HVAC mechanic required, with experience in a large institutional (college, university, hospital, etc.) setting preferred./liliEPA CFC Universal certification required/li/ulpHVAC II:/ppIn addition to the above associated requirements for HVAC I, to join at the HVAC II level requires the following additional certifications and experience-/pulliMinimum of four (4) years experience as a journeyman level HVAC mechanic required, with experience in a large institutional (college, university, hospital, etc.) setting preferred./liliAdditional experience in building automation system operations and installations preferred/liliCity of Pittsburgh Stationary Engineers License required/li/ulpRequirements:/pulliSuccessful Background Check and Valid PA Drivers License/liliPA Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)/liliMotor Vehicle Records (conducted annually)/liliFitness for duty assessment and pre-employment medical exam; Pre-employment drug and alcohol screen/li/ulpAdditional Information:/pulliThis is a full-time (40 hours/week), non-exempt position based in Pittsburgh, PA./liliSponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States.
