Registered Nurse - Pacemaker Electrophysiology (RN)

The Registered Nurse - Pacemaker Electrophysiology assists providers and staff in delivering and coordinating patient care, aiming to enhance patient satisfaction, clinic efficiency, and provider productivity. This position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while collaborating with other health care team members. The Registered Nurse also plays a key role in patient and family education. Nursing practice is governed by the Nurse Practices Act and Administrative Rules of the state of Montana.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current Montana Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• One (1) year of registered nursing experience
• International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) certification
• Experience in managing cardiac implantable electronic devices, including pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs)
• Familiarity with device platforms from major manufacturers, including Biotronik, Medtronic, Abbott (formerly St. Jude Medical), and Boston Scientific
• Knowledge of cardiac arrhythmia management and electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) interpretation

Essential Job Functions:

• Interrogate cardiac implantable electronic devices, monitor and document patient responses to device therapy and programming changes, adjust device settings per provider orders, manage remote device monitoring, and troubleshoot device-related concerns
• Coordinate follow-up care for patients receiving services through the Device Clinic
• Maintain device clinic databases and patient records to ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and continuity of care
• Perform diagnostic tests and treatments as ordered by the provider, including electrocardiograms (EKGs), event monitors, Holter monitors, and Zio Patch application, removal, and data processing
• Coordinate and schedule surgical and procedural interventions related to cardiac implantable electronic devices and related patient care needs
• Collaborate with radiology, surgical, anesthesia, and other interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care for patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices undergoing MRI studies, surgical procedures, or other interventions
• Maintain examination and treatment rooms to ensure cleanliness, organization, and appropriate stocking of supplies and equipment
• Collaborate with providers to assess and coordinate care for walk-in and urgent patient needs within the clinic
• Provide education, support, and ongoing guidance to patients and families regarding cardiac implantable electronic devices, arrhythmia management, and electrophysiology-related procedures, including ablation therapy
• Participate in quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and departmental initiatives to support safe, effective, and efficient patient care

Schedule Requirements:

This role requires regular attendance and may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour work week, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
