Job Overview MedStar Health is looking for a Radiology Technologist to join our MedStar Health Urgent Care team. Now offering a limited‑time $10,000 sign‑on bonus! The position involves clinical and administrative duties in accordance with MedStar Health policies and procedures. The technologist works under the supervision of a physician, performs patient intake, standing orders or protocols, venipuncture, laboratory testing, and patient follow‑up. The technologist also administers medications, performs and transmits X‑ray diagnostic images, documents findings, and supports optimal patient flow. Adhere to department policies, quality standards, and safety standards. Comply with governmental and accreditation regulations, the MedStar Health Code of Conduct and its Compliance plan. Complete all scheduled training, including safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR, EMR, general compliance, harassment, and service training. Clean stocks, sterilize equipment, and prepare patient rooms for care delivery. Deliver patient care consistent with policy, ensuring patient/employee safety and quality of care. Embrace new technology and use the electronic health record. Manage patient flow with frequent communication with patients/families, respecting their time and comfort. Perform additional testing and care consistent with the scope of MedStar Health practices, including spirometry/PFTs, patient vitals and BMI, EKGs, vision and hearing tests, splinting, and general patient care under the supervision of the medical provider. Perform patient follow‑up calls for lab tests, patient experience, and clinical results in a professional manner. Perform venipuncture and selected patient and laboratory testing (point of care) and initiate care pathways according to policy. Perform X‑rays in accordance with medical provider orders; forward images to the appropriate radiologist for over‑reads; maintain X‑ray equipment and adhere to safety standards. Promote an atmosphere of respect toward patients, families, vendors, employers, and co‑workers; act and communicate professionally at all times. Provide care consistent with MedStar’s mission, vision, and values, engendering patient confidence and loyalty by exceeding expectations. Serve as a patient escort throughout the care process and assist in patient discharge, ensuring clarity for the patient or family member(s). Support new clinical and service initiatives; seek opportunities to improve care and the patient experience. Support other members of the team during downtime or bottlenecks in patient processing. Understand and participate in basic computer and patient intake skills at the front desk. Support the medical provider in patient examination testing and education. Under medical provider supervision, prepare and administer oral medications and injections (intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular) after demonstrating competency to the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or designee. Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Education and Experience Associate’s degree required. Completion of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required. Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting required. 1–2 years of medical office experience preferred. One year of relevant professional‑level work experience may substitute one year of required education. Licenses and Certifications ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required. State license in Maryland, Virginia, or DC (Certified Medical Radiation) required. CPR – Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (including BLS and NRP) from AHA or American Red Cross within 90 days required. Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Clinical competency verified during the initial 90‑day orientation period and annually thereafter. Excellent customer service and patient interaction skills. Computer and electronic medical record (EMR) skills; ability to function in a variable clinical setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
