Medical Assistant Department: Clinic Operations Employment Type: Full Time Location: 500 S. Anaheim Hills Road, Suite 230, Anaheim, CA 92807 Reporting To: Kimberly Freeman Compensation: $20.00 - $26.00 / hour Description
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFront Office ResponsibilitiesGreet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.Check patients in and out while verifying demographics and insurance information.Collect co-pays, balances, and issue receipts.Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.Answer and direct incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries.Manage appointment schedules and provider templates.Scan and upload patient documents into the electronic health record (EHR).Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.Assist with patient registration and obtain required consent forms.Back Office ResponsibilitiesPrepare patients for examination by obtaining vital signs, medical history, medication lists, and chief complaints.Assist providers during examinations and procedures.Administer medications and immunizations as directed and within scope of practice.Perform EKGs, ear lavages, injections, and other clinical procedures as assigned.Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.Process prescription refill requests according to provider protocols.Complete prior authorizations and medication refill documentation.Prepare exam rooms and maintain adequate clinical supplies.Clean and disinfect exam rooms following infection control guidelines.Assist with patient education and follow-up instructions.Document patient care accurately in the EHR.Administrative ResponsibilitiesProcess referrals, authorizations, and diagnostic testing requests as assigned.Monitor provider inboxes and patient messages.Complete forms, medical records requests, and other administrative tasks.Participate in daily huddles, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.Assist with closing duties and maintain organized work areas.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Medical Assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited program preferred.Current BLS/CPR certification preferred.Previous medical office experience preferred.Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health records.Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.Ability to perform repetitive hand movements and use standard office and medical equipment.Core CompetenciesExcellent customer serviceProfessional communicationTeamwork and collaborationAttention to detailTime managementReliability and punctualityCompassion and patient-centered careAdaptability and flexibilityCommitment to quality and continuous improvement What You'll Do

- Assists physicians, nurses, and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician
- Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records
- Clinical duties may include, such as preparing a treatment room for patient exams, recording patient medical history, and cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in the patient's chart
- Interviews patients to obtain their medical history
- Records patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files
- Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills in a fast-pace environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Be able to prioritize workload while remaining flexible
- May be required to work overtime to meet tight deadlines
- At least One (1) or more years of knowledge and experience working as a Medical Assistant
- Active and unrestricted Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in California
- High school diploma or GED
- (Preferred) Fluent in Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese
- Ability to maintain confidentiality following HIPAA
- Demonstration of mature judgment
- Attention to detail, organized, ethical, and reliable
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a courteous and friendly manner
