Respiratory Therapist (RT) We are searching for a highly motivated, flexible, organized, and skilled respiratory therapist who has experience in a rehab center and possesses great communication skills. This long‑term role involves providing specialized care and treatment to patients with cardio‑pulmonary, respiratory, neurological, and other conditions that result in respiratory disorders. Job Description Essential Job Functions 1. Develop and maintain systems that enhance the facility’s reputation for respiratory therapy and demonstrate interdisciplinary care. Oversight of departmental operations such as compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Compliance with documentation guidelines and regulatory requirements. Implementation of new patient programs in accordance with facility policies. Conducting in‑services as required. Communicating regularly with the administrator and scheduling support visits. Timely evaluation and treatment of patients in the most efficient manner possible. Participation with nursing to meet OBRA requirements. Ensuring quality of data entry and clinical documentation. Managing use of computerized systems to optimize data quality and maximize therapist efficiency. 2. Monitor the financial performance of the Respiratory Therapy department and seek improvement while maintaining standards. Achieving and maintaining revenue, productivity, and gross profit margin goals. Managing key operations and financial levers to achieve budget projections, including development and implementation of action plans. Long‑term caseload development. 3. Contribute to the professional development of self and staff. Maintain current professional status and licensure. Adhere to professional standards of conduct, clinical code of ethics, and practice. Provide new employee orientation and ongoing staff development programs. Develop and implement in‑service orientation schedules. Maintain a current body of knowledge through seminars, professional journals, and peer interactions. Meet continuing education requirements of regulatory agencies. 4. Build and maintain the facility’s reputation as an unparalleled respiratory therapy provider. Consistently demonstrate the facility’s core values with co‑workers, patients, and families. Show professional standards as outlined in the facility’s Employee Handbook. Contribute to a positive work team through information sharing, problem‑solving, and acceptance of new ideas. Maintain close communication with nursing leadership, admissions, and the respiratory therapy program. Establish and maintain rapport with the administrator, MDS, Rehab Director, Director of Nursing, and medical director. Demonstrate superior customer service through courtesy, follow‑up, and positive communication. 5. Provide patient treatments that meet their needs and use current treatment knowledge. Perform accurate, comprehensive patient evaluations. Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approvals from the referring physician. Communicate with supervisor and interdisciplinary team about patient progress and treatment plans. Instruct patients’ families and nursing staff on follow‑through programs. Interview patients and families regarding previous functioning, lifestyle, and recovery expectations. Demonstrate knowledge of resources for problem‑solving and clinical best practice. Evaluate patients within required timeframes per facility policies. Provide patient care as appropriate and necessary, following applicable clinical discipline standards. 6. Write accurate, complete, and clear documentation in accordance with regulatory and accrediting requirements. Record resident needs reviews, evaluations, and daily treatment notes per facility policies. Record treatment charges accurately and ensure documentation matches billing data. Write specific, objective, outcome‑oriented documentation with measurable goals. 7. Demonstrate consistent interdisciplinary patient care. Integrate findings of other interdisciplinary team members into treatment assessment. Integrate patient and family input into treatment recommendations. Prepare for and contribute to rehab team conferences, patient care conferences, utilization review, family conferences, and caregiver training sessions. Collaborate with and inform facility staff about patient progress. Educate team members in areas of expertise. Assist in teaching documentation practices that support the respiratory therapy team. Communicate effectively with discharge planners. 8. Demonstrate safe working practices. Identify and correct safety hazards or report them for remediation. Maintain work areas in a safe and orderly fashion. Ensure equipment is in safe working order, including annual calibration. Use proper body mechanics during patient treatments and support activities. Apply universal safety precautions. Wear appropriate protective equipment. Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of respiratory community. Demonstrated leadership and management skills. Clinical discipline‑applicable skills.
