Physical Therapist

Job Overview We evaluate and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs. Minimum Qualifications Current or temporary physical therapist licensure in the applicable state (e.g., MD, OH, PA, WV) per state board regulations. Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire date. Preferred Qualifications One (1) year of physical therapist experience. Core Duties and Responsibilities Provide coordinated and comprehensive patient care including assessment, expected outcomes, rehabilitation interventions, and evaluation within an interdisciplinary team approach. Apply research and proven techniques to examine, diagnose, and treat conditions that limit the body’s ability to move and function in daily life, as monitored by supervision, documentation review, and consultation with M.D. Carry out oversight responsibilities to ensure supervision of PTAs, rehab technicians, students, and volunteers. Participate in meeting the goals and objectives of the work unit and department to align with the hospital’s organizational objectives. Supervise physical therapy students and volunteers, and provide supervision of therapy assistants in accordance with regulatory standards. Submit accurate charges for services rendered for patients, following departmental policies, procedures, and via the billing system in the patient’s EMR. For facilities with specialty accreditation requirements: complete annual required education related to accreditation as defined by standards (e.g., CBLs, trainings, in‑services, competency validation). Physical Requirements Minimize manual patient lifting; limit safe patient handling to 35 pounds using lift equipment and patient‑handling aids as indicated. Heavy/hard work: lift, move, stoop, reach, stand, walk, and carry materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs. Require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Working Environment Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and various cleaning and laundry chemicals. Skills and Abilities Organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve coordinated work effort and effectively meet schedules. Integrate multiple factors impacting patient care. Physical Therapist Clinical Ladder Level1 – No experience required. Level2 – Meets Level1 requirements; two years of experience. Level3 – Meets Level2 requirements; four years of experience; annual proficiency requirements (if no certification: ten Level3 proficiencies; if certification: five Level3 proficiencies). Level4 – Meets Level3 requirements; eight years of experience; ten Level4 proficiencies with annual requirement of five; professional certification required. Level5 – Meets Level4 requirements; ten years of experience; ten Level5 proficiencies with annual requirement of five; professional certification required.
