Shift Lead

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Shift Leader for an innovative, high-growth for-profit life sciences organization combining science, automation, and technology. This is a direct-hire, fully onsite position in Northwest Austin, Texas, near Cedar Park. POSITION OVERVIEW The Shift Leader will oversee an assigned 12-hour shift within a sophisticated 24/7 automated laboratory operation. This hands-on leader will supervise hourly operations staff, coordinate with scientific teams, and ensure standardized workflows are completed safely, efficiently, and consistently. The ideal candidate is a strong floor leader who thrives in a fast-paced, highly structured environment and knows how to keep teams accountable, productive, and aligned throughout a shift. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead an assigned day or night shift, ensuring reliable operational coverage and consistent execution throughout the shift. Supervise and support hourly employees performing highly standardized, procedure-driven operational tasks. Manage staffing, task assignments, attendance, shift handoffs, and day-to-day team accountability. Monitor throughput, turnaround time, productivity, quality, safety, and adherence to standard operating procedures. Coordinate with on-shift scientists to address equipment, workflow, and data-quality concerns and elevate operational issues when necessary. Foster a culture of safety, ownership, accountability, clear communication, and continuous improvement. QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated experience leading a shift within manufacturing, fulfillment, laboratory operations, or another high-volume procedural environment. Direct people-management experience supervising hourly/nonexempt employees and maintaining productivity, quality, and accountability. Experience managing staffing, task allocation, shift transitions, safety, and day-to-day operational priorities. Comfort working within a highly automated, data-driven, and procedure-focused environment. Strong communication, problem-solving, scheduling, and escalation skills; experience within biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, or regulated manufacturing environments is a plus but not required. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS This direct-hire opportunity offers a base salary of $80,000-$100,000, depending on experience and qualifications, along with pre-IPO stock options. This is a full-time, onsite position working a 12-hour shift within a 24/7 operation; the exact day/night shift and schedule are being finalized.
