We are hiring an experienced MEP Fire Protection Assistant Superintendent to lead field execution for a major airport program in Chicago. This is an on‑site role focused on safe, high‑quality delivery in a live airport environment. Key Responsibilities Assist in the day-to‑day field supervision of fire protection and MEP contractors, ensuring safe, compliant, and high‑quality installations. Coordinate phasing and work sequencing in active airport facilities, minimizing operational impacts while maintaining schedule discipline. Support compliance with applicable codes and contract requirements. Assists the project Superintendent and Project Manger by performing a variety of tasks in support of construction activities. Activities may include inspection of engineering installations for compliance with specifications and quality standards, maintaining project documentation, interfacing with other administrative field staff. Maintain field records, daily reports, and contribute to cost and change documentation. HSD/GED and 6 years of demonstrated construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Requirements Experience as an Assistant Superintendent working on large projects. Exposure to fire protection systems. Ability to interpret drawings/specifications, coordinate RFI responses, and validate submittals in the field. Proficiency with field reporting tools. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or apprenticeship credentials a plus. Physical Demands The following physical demands represent those typically required of individuals working in construction field roles, with or without accommodation. Construction field positions require physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to climb ladders and stairs, use personnel hoists, and move through various terrain and active construction zones. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Team members must be capable of using their hands to handle tools and materials, and perform activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted may be necessary on an occasional basis. Individuals in construction field roles work primarily on active job sites where exposure to environmental and job‑related hazards is common, with or without accommodation. These environments may include proximity to heavy machinery, elevated work areas, airborne particles, varying weather conditions, and potential electrical risks. Noise levels may vary from moderate to high depending on the phase of construction. Employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and must remain alert to ensure safety. Additional duties may be assigned as needed based on the scope and progress of the project. This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization now or in the future.
