Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Kearney, NE | Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (18:30–06:30) | Every Other Weekend Required | Minimum of 2 holidays within the contract period

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 40-bed Progressive Care Unit serving adult populations including cardiac med/surg, dialysis, oncology, vascular, sepsis, respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure patients
• Maintain a patient assignment ratio of 1:4–5 and collaborate with nurse aides/patient care techs (1:12 ratio) to deliver comprehensive care
• Titrate and manage drips including Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin; competency in Arterial Lines is required
• Read and interpret telemetry/cardiac monitor strips independently
• Manage high-flow oxygen equipment and troubleshoot as needed
• Float as needed to MedSurg or to ICU for PCU-acuity patients; respond within 30 minutes if called back in from on-call status

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Demonstrated competency with Arterial Lines
• Must successfully pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required for contract continuation
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; a valid driver's license is required at time of submittal to verify eligibility
• Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or intermediate care setting
• Experience caring for culturally diverse patient populations
• Familiarity with cardiac monitoring systems and strip interpretation
• Strong communication skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
