• Schedule: Multiple Shifts Available:
• Full-Time Days, 3 12-Hour Shifts, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
• Full-Time Nights, 3 12-Hour Shifts, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am
• Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham

4 South is a 30-bed medical and surgical stepdown unit at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham that ca res for a wide range of patients and offers a dynamic environment for learning and developing your nursing skills . It’s an ideal unit for nurses who are not ready for the intensity of an ICU but are seeking to advance their skills. We foster skill development and clinical expertise in a supportive, teaching-focused setting.

Job Description

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

• Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may include helping them to a recliner in their

room, walk to the bathroom or down the hall. Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their

vehicles.

• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

Documents necessary records.

• Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.
• Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as

oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.

• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
