Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN - ER Specialty: RN - ER Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse within the last 24 months and acute critical experience within the last 12 months, or EMT and ED Tech with a minimum of 2 years of experience in good standing. License: Current license as a Registered Nurse. Certifications: Evidence of current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification. MICN desired to be completed within one year of hire. MICN, NRP, TNCC, and CEN encouraged and recommended. Must-Have: Basic computer skills. Description: Client is committed to the safety and well-being of associates and patients. To perform successfully as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, the following characteristics are essential: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally need to pull, lift, transfer, or push a patient. The nurse must be able to demonstrate a pull lift of 50 pounds from the floor. The role may involve potential exposure to blood and body fluids, requiring adherence to safety protocols. The RN must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care services appropriate to the age of the patients served, including child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. They must assess data reflective of patient status and interpret relative to age-specific needs, providing the care required. The RN will handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner. Maintaining accurate and continued nursing documentation is crucial, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessments. The nurse must meet all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration and regulatory agencies. Current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on the age of the patient and clinical condition is necessary. The RN will monitor hemodynamic status of patients and interpret results. Documentation must reflect a comprehensive understanding of the nursing process. Performing head-to-toe assessments on all patients and reassessing per policy is essential. The RN will prepare, administer, monitor, and discontinue IV fluids. Providing a professional appearance while on hospital grounds is expected. Willingness to perform other duties and innovations as assigned is essential. Staffing ratios are typical of 4:1, and scheduling includes rotational weekends as required. Additional information may include unit setup details such as communication and medication systems.
