Omaha Track is seeking a Local CDL Class A Driver to support our Chicago Heights rail yard operations. This position offers local routes, steady work, competitive weekly earnings, and a Monday-Friday schedule with no regular weekend driving requirements.

Position Summary

The Local Driver – Yard Operations is responsible for safely transporting materials between company facilities, customer locations, rail yards, and job sites throughout the local area. Drivers will operate tractor-trailer combinations including flatbeds, pole trailers, and end dump trailers while supporting daily yard operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class A tractor-trailer combinations
• Transport railroad materials and equipment to assigned locations
• Secure loads and ensure safe transportation practices
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Maintain driver logs and transportation records
• Communicate daily with dispatch and transportation leadership
• Follow railroad safety protocols and job briefing procedures
• Maintain clean vehicles, trailers, and equipment
• Complete required safety training and certifications
• Report maintenance concerns, incidents, and safety issues promptly

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Valid Class A CDL required
• Air Brake Endorsement required
• No manual transmission restrictions
• Clean driving record with no major violations in the past three years
• Minimum two years of CDL driving experience
• Flatbed experience preferred
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Strong communication and mechanical aptitude

Physical Requirements

This position requires working outdoors and includes lifting, climbing, bending, walking, and securing loads. Candidates must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and safely navigate uneven terrain and rail yard environments.
