Computational Biologist for Scientific Coding with Python [Remote]

Role Overview:

Join a dynamic team as a Scientific Coding Specialist, where your analytical skills and computational expertise will be pivotal in designing and solving complex scientific problems. This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to research by developing original, research-grade problems and crafting elegant computational solutions using Python.

Key Responsibilities:

Quantitative Problem Design and Solutioning:

• Develop and conceptualize original, research-grade or graduate-level scientific problems utilizing Python for scientific coding.
• Define problem categories, assign secondary tags, and determine appropriate difficulty levels.
• Ensure solutions are accurate, reliable, and logically coherent by rigorously solving formulated problems.

Quality Assurance & Collaboration:

• Engage in two-tier reviews to evaluate the accuracy of problems and solutions meticulously.
• Collaborate with reviewers and team leads, proactively incorporating feedback to refine content and enhance quality.

Qualifications:

• PhD or PhD candidates in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics.
• At least one published peer-reviewed paper.
• Advanced proficiency in Python programming for scientific coding is preferred.
• Strong analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective documentation and collaboration.

Work Terms:

• Commitment of at least 4 hours per day and a minimum of 20 hours per week, with 4 hours of overlap with PST. Options for time commitment include 20 hrs/week, 30 hrs/week, or 40 hrs/week.
• Engagement type: Contractor assignment/freelancer (no medical or paid leave).
• Contract duration: 3 months, with an expected start date next week.
