Overview Get Involved! Do you want to use your skills in construction to help rebuild communities impacted by natural disasters? Samaritans Purse is seeking a Construction Worker to join our Rebuild team in Western North Carolina. As a member of our team, you will work alongside other passionate individuals to construct and repair homes in affected areas, lead volunteers, and ensure the highest quality of work. You will be working at one of the following Rebuild sites in Western North Carolina: Watauga County (Boone, NC) Buncombe County (Asheville, NC) Yancey County (Burnsville, NC) Responsibilities Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him Work jointly with the Project Superintendent, Construction Foremen, and Logistics Coordinators to construct and/or repair both stick built homes and manufactured homes in the affected area Work with and lead volunteers Apply your construction abilities to set up mobile homes as part of our manufactured home replacement program for victims of natural disasters Work with other construction workers and hired subcontractors when needed Ensure the quality of each project is maintained to the highest possible standard Provide safety training and general project training for team members at the job site and assure all work is done according to safety standards Maintain security of all materials and equipment at job sites Ensure quality and adherence to Samaritans Purse policies from hired subcontractors Inspect all jobs, ensuring work is performed per federal, state, and local laws and codes Communicate and minister to homeowners and partners, keeping them informed of the team's work and projected needs All other duties as assigned Qualifications & Experience One-year certificate from college or technical school and three (3) to six (6) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to obtain a drivers medical card (required) Trade certifications (electrical, plumbing, roofing, framing, and finish carpentry) (preferred) Class A Commercial Drivers License (preferred) Thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of residential home construction, from layout and foundation work to final inspection Job Details Job Location: Watauga County, Buncombe County, or Yancey County Type: Full-Time Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required) Benefits Medical, prescription, dental & vision insurance Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Long-term and Short-term disability insurance Paid Family Medical Leave Term Life Insurance 401(k) retirement savings plan 10 paid holidays 12 vacation/personal days 10 sick days Mission & Faith Statements Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.
