Dining Room Manager – Hotel

Location: Downtown Chicago, Illinois

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 Base + Bonus Potential

Position Summary

A well-established hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago is seeking an experienced Dining Room Manager to oversee front-of-house restaurant operations. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who enjoys leading a busy dining room, developing strong service teams, and creating memorable guest experiences.

As the Dining Room Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring daily operations run smoothly while maintaining high standards of service, professionalism, and teamwork. You'll work closely with both the front- and back-of-house teams to deliver an exceptional dining experience for hotel guests and local patrons alike.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Daily Operations

Manage the day-to-day flow of the dining room, ensuring efficient service from opening through closing while maintaining a welcoming and organized atmosphere.

Build and Coach the Team, Recruit, train, mentor, and support servers, hosts, bartenders, and support staff. Encourage accountability, teamwork, and continuous development throughout the department.

Elevate the Guest Experience

Be present on the floor during service, anticipate guest needs, resolve concerns promptly, and ensure every guest leaves with a positive impression.

Maintain Service Standards

Monitor food presentation, service quality, cleanliness, and hospitality standards to ensure consistency throughout every shift.

Partner with Culinary Leadership Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage leadership to maintain effective communication, coordinate service timing, and deliver a smooth dining experience.

Support Department Performance

Assist with scheduling, labor management, inventory control, and operational goals while balancing efficiency with outstanding guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of management experience in an upscale restaurant, hotel restaurant, or full-service dining environment.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop front-of-house teams.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of restaurant operations, food and beverage service, and guest relations.
• Ability to remain composed and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
